Kanji Tile: Learn Japanese Kanji
Last Updated: July 27, 2026
Jose Antonio Blaya Garcia (“we”, “us”, or “our”) built KanjiTile as a commercial application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our app.
Information We Collect
Data You Provide
- Study progress — Your flashcard review history, spaced-repetition scheduling data, streaks, XP, and achievements are stored on your device and, if you are signed in to iCloud, synced to your private iCloud database.
- Custom decks and cards — Decks and flashcards you create are stored on your device and synced to your private iCloud database.
- App preferences — Reminder settings and other preferences are stored locally on your device.
Data Collected by Third Parties
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — Your study data is synced through your private iCloud database so you never lose progress and can continue on any of your devices. We have no access to this data; it is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat — We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes your purchase transactions through Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not have access to your payment information. For more details, see RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Notifications
If you enable the daily study reminder, KanjiTile schedules a local notification on your device. Notifications are generated entirely on-device; nothing is sent to any server.
Analytics
We collect anonymized usage events (e.g., “study session completed”, “game started”, “paywall shown”) through TelemetryDeck to understand how the app is used and improve it. TelemetryDeck does not collect IP addresses, device identifiers, or any personally identifiable information. For more details, see TelemetryDeck's privacy policy.
Dictionary Data
Kanji definitions and readings come from the KANJIDIC project (© EDRDG) and stroke-order data from KanjiVG (© Ulrich Apel), both used under the CC BY-SA license. This content ships inside the app; no network requests are made to retrieve it.
Children's Privacy
KanjiTile does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
